Nancy M.
Vizer
concentrates her
practice in
immigration law. She
is a member of the
American Immigration
Lawyers Association,
where she has served
on the Department of
Labor, Asylum and
Advocacy Committees,
She is Past
President of the
North Suburban Bar
Association, having
previously served as
Treasurer and Vice
President of that
organization. Ms.
Vizer received the
President's Award in
both 2003 and 2004
in recognition of
her outstanding
service to NSBA. She
is also a member of
the National
Association of
College and
University
Attorneys, the
Illinois State Bar
Association, the
Virginia Bar
Association and The
Decalogue Society.
Ms. Vizer has
experience in most
aspects of
immigration law and
has participated on
panels at several
continuing legal
education seminars
concerning
immigration topics.
She has also made
presentations to
both faculty and
human resources
staff at a number of
universities in
connection with
immigration
employment issues.
She has prepared
and submitted
numerous
applications for
business-related
visas for immigrants
and nonimmigrants.
Her clients have
included both small
and large business
enterprises in many
fields, including
universities, high
tech, hospitality,
marketing and
healthcare. She has
also assisted many
clients to sponsor
family members for
permanent residence.
Ms. Vizer has
presented asylum
cases, both
affirmatively at the
administrative
level, and as a
defense in
immigration court.
In addition, Ms.
Vizer's immigration
court experience
includes defenses to
removal based on
grounds of criminal
and immigration
violations, and she
occasionally serves
as pro bono counsel
for asylum cases
referred through the
National Immigrant
Justice Center, as
well as certain
other pro bono work.
In addition to
her law degree, Ms.
Vizer has a masters
in business
administration,
which assists her in
understanding and
working with the
unique needs of her
corporate clients.
As an immigration
attorney licensed in
Illinois and
Virginia, Ms. Vizer
is authorized to
represent clients
before the US
Citizenship and
Immigration Services
and the Immigration
Court anywhere in
the United States.
She is therefore
able to represent
clients in various
locations by use of
telephone, fax and
e-mail.
Ms. Vizer
received a B.A.
magna cum laude in
English from Iona
College, an M.B.A.
cum laude from
Georgetown
University, and a
J.D. from George
Mason University,
where she served as
Research Editor for
the Civil Rights Law
Journal and received
two writing awards.
